Why do you think Sydney despised the City Café when she had
never been inside? What did Sydney think she needed? What was she
looking for that she thought she couldn't find in her hometown? Do
you think she would have found what she was looking for if she never
came home and met Brian again? |
| 3. |
In chapter two, do you identify more with Jane or Molly? What was
Jane's motivation for breaking up with Sammy? What did she gain or
lose by making this choice? Molly referred to Sammy as Jane's “doorway
to the moon.” Why? What other things can act as a doorway to
the moon? Why do you think that are there some doors that we cannot
open for ourselves? |
| 4. |
Why do you think that the moon is partial to artists? What Emile realistic
in his approach to life? Was Henri? How did their approaches to life
effect their view of art and vice versa? Do you feel that this story
is an accurate portrayal of art (music, painting, or writing) in the
modern world? |

with themselves during their waking hours. Do you agree or disagree?

sometimes don't want to see the truth? Why is teamwork important in
life? Can people get through life without it?

Was it fair of the moon to play tricks on the teenagers in chapter
five? Do you think the moon is cold hearted for doing this? Why or
why not? Do you think that Josh knew how important Corby was to him
before he lost his dog? Do you believe in fate? Why or why not? If
so, do you think that fate can be trusted? |

ring symbolize for the different owners? |
| 8. |
Could either Douglas or Joe have done anything to facilitate a better
understanding? Can blame be placed for the loss of this relationship?
Why or why not? The moon states that certain things do not last “one
instant longer than necessary.” Do you agree or disagree? If
you agree, how do you define “necessary”?
|
| 9. |
Have you learned anything form the moon? Are there things that you
would like to tell or teach the moon? Do you think that the moon is
all knowing or wise? Please explain why you agree or disagree. Is
the moon someone that you would like to meet? Why or why not? If the
sun told these stories, would they have the same effect? Would the
book be written differently if the sun were the main character? If
so, how? |
